What is Project-Based Learning (PBL)?
PBL is a methodology we apply at our school, and it’s all about learning by doing. Instead of receiving information passively, students research, collaborate, and solve real or meaningful challenges, applying knowledge from different subjects to reach concrete solutions.
Our projects are designed to develop academic knowledge and build essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, effective communication, and teamwork.
PBL aligns perfectly with our vision of integral formation because:
- Our students make decisions, manage their time, and take ownership of their learning process.
- It fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and communication. Essential for university, professional life, and personal growth.
- Projects are connected to real-world situations, helping students understand why their learning is relevant.
- It promotes deep and meaningful learning by building knowledge through research, analysis, and reflection.
At Highlands, every project is an opportunity to form value-driven leaders committed to the common good. Many of our projects include a social, ecological, or community component, aligning with our mission to create people who can transform society.
We don’t just teach students how to learn; we teach them to apply, to make an impact, and to lead.
