Middle School
In Middle School, our instructors promote self-knowledge among students so that they are aware of the great potential they have within and can successfully face the challenges of a globalized world.
During Middle School, we focus on each of our students learning to value themselves, enhancing the gifts they have received: their reasoning, their ability to analyze and experiment, as well as problem-solving.
At this stage, our students prepare with the College Board’s program to excel academically in the AP (Advanced Placement) program in High School. They will also begin their journey with Italian as their third language.
Subject Departmentalization
We are always devoted to developing and implementing strategies to promote our student’s Integral Formation. Therefore, beginning in 6th grade, our students can learn the skills needed in each subject from specialized teachers.
Community Building and SEL
It is well known that individuals with high levels of emotional intelligence will develop self- motivation and appropriate communication skills, both essential for leadership.
With this in mind, we have assigned one period each week to help our students learn to accurately identify their feelings, communicate, make decisions, and overcome challenges.
Methodologies
Through the years, Middle School students increasingly become more independent, the protagonists of their learning. We respect not only their rhythms but also their maturity level and development. Students at this age seek to give personal meaning to what they learn. To accomplish this, instructors monitor students helping them learn to manage time, interests, experiences, and needs.
To achieve this, the teacher becomes a guide and mediator of the process, applying CAR (Cooperative, Active, and Reflective) methodologies and using educational resources while emphasizing interdisciplinary work.
Technology
Using educational technology, robotics, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math), we encourage students to use technology effectively and efficiently to increase productivity, develop creativity, communicate ideas, and aid collaborative work. All this
without ever forgetting the responsibility that their use entails. To accomplish this, we include in our program a variety of platforms to support the whole spectrum of our curriculum.
Active Learning Environments
We educate at all times, spaces, and environments. Any opportunity, inside and outside the classroom, is used to develop an educational-formative intervention. We have various resources that support us in this process:
Productive, flexible, interactive, and collaborative spaces favor personal growth, transcendency and community learning.
The physical materials and educational facilities help enhance the student’s competencies according to the expected graduation profile.
Educational technology promotes research, producing content and finding solutions to real-life problems.
